ABOUT US

n. flute quintet: a musical term for a type of chamber music group consisting of five flutes; a group containing five members who are considered a single unit.

n. In Radiance: infinite possibilities, spreading light and joy through the world.

In Radiance has been performing together since 2014, beginning as a chamber group coached by Marco Granados at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA. Ever since the group's first performance, which included an arrangement of Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé, In Radiance has shaken up the traditional concert model as they continue to explore new ways to engage audiences, passionate about Teaching Artistry. The members of In Radiance hail from New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Texas, making them a mobile chamber ensemble and presenting the unique opportunity to reach out to communities across the country. Examples of the group's innovative concerts include the concert series "And the Winner Is...", in which the audience members choose the program pieces, and "Leaping Neurons", an interactive concert premiering in June 2017 at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA. As creative workshop presenters and entrepreneurs, the work of In Radiance has been featured at the Boston Flute Festival, the National Flute Association's Arts Venture Competition, and the C.R.E.A.T.E. Competition.

As advocates for new music, In Radiance commissions new pieces and arrangements for flute quintet to help expand the repertoire for this instrumentation and support composers. Their EP, released in February 2016, features some of these original arrangements. They had the opportunity to be selected to perform the world premiere of Across the Synapse by Paul Sayed at the National Flute Convention in August 2016, specifically commissioned for that Convention.

In Radiance's most recent appearances were in Denton, TX as a part of the concert series at the Emily Fowler Public Library, UNT on the Square, and TB Winds. The group has had the honor of performing for three years in a row at the NFA Annual Convention.
